MT4, MT5 and cTrader VPSAn RS Computers forex VPS is a Windows Server machine that keeps MT4, MT5 or cTrader connected to your broker around the clock, so Expert Advisors and copied signals keep working when your own PC is off. In our own tests, our Amsterdam servers were 6.7 ms from London and 6.6 ms from Frankfurt.

Prishtina is sold out at the moment. The same plans and prices are available in Amsterdam and Dublin. Follow us on Telegram to hear when Kosovo capacity is back.
Every plan: NVMe storage, a dedicated IPv4 address plus IPv6, free weekly backups and full root access. Windows Server is available on VPS Mini and all VDS plans.
Measured to our Amsterdam servers with ping.pe on 6 October 2026: 6.7 ms from London, 6.6 ms from Frankfurt. Every city we tested is in the table below.
Run MT4, MT5 and cTrader side by side for several brokers and accounts, with DLL-based EAs and trade copiers. Full administrator access over RDP.
Choose the version at the configure step on VPS Mini or any VDS plan. Deployment is automatic after payment and usually done within minutes.
Free weekly backups restored from the client area, and a console that reaches the server when RDP does not. 99% monthly uptime SLA and a 24/7 NOC.
A forex VPS is a Windows server in a data centre that runs your trading terminal day and night. You connect over Remote Desktop, start MetaTrader 4, MetaTrader 5 or cTrader, attach your Expert Advisors and disconnect, and the terminal keeps working after your laptop is off. MetaQuotes explains why that matters: Expert Advisors and copied signals need a constant connection to a trade server and uninterrupted power supply. Even a trailing stop works in the client terminal, not on the server, so it stops following the price when your PC sleeps.
At RS Computers a forex VPS is a Windows VPS on KVM with NVMe storage, a dedicated IPv4 address plus IPv6 and full administrator access, in Amsterdam, Prishtina or Dublin. One plain point before the details: a VPS keeps a strategy running. It does not make that strategy profitable.
The delay between you and the server only decides how quickly the remote desktop reacts to your mouse. The delay between the server and your broker's trade server is the one every order from your EA travels, so choose the city for that one. MetaQuotes gives the same advice for its own hosting: pick the server closest to your broker.
London is the best known forex hub in Europe. LMAX Exchange lists its FX matching centres in London (LD4), New York (NY4), Tokyo (TY3) and Singapore (SG1), and FastMatch launched its FX matching engine in Equinix LD4, the Slough campus west of London. Retail brokers rarely publish where their trade servers sit, so the reliable way to know is to measure.
We measured our own servers on 6 October 2026 with ping.pe, which pings an address from probes in many cities. Each figure is the lowest of about 10 pings from that city, as a round trip in milliseconds.
| Probe city | To our Amsterdam server | To our Prishtina server |
|---|---|---|
| London | 6.7 ms | 40.2 ms |
| Frankfurt | 6.6 ms | 27.8 ms |
| Paris | 9.3 ms | 40.5 ms |
| Zurich | 14.2 ms | 41.9 ms |
| Vienna | 18.1 ms | 18.6 ms |
| New York | 72.4 ms | 115.8 ms |
So a broker whose trade server is in London or Frankfurt is about 7 ms from our Amsterdam servers, which is why the plans above open on Amsterdam. These are figures from public probes to our servers, not to any named broker. Our Prishtina servers suit a broker in Vienna, at 18.6 ms. Dublin was not part of this test. For a broker in New York, 72.4 ms is mostly the Atlantic, and a server in the United States would serve you better than any of ours.
No vendor publishes a memory figure per terminal. MetaQuotes says the hardware MetaTrader 5 needs depends on use conditions: the load from running MQL5 programs and the number of active instruments and charts. cTrader's system requirements ask for a dual-core CPU and 2 GB of memory at minimum, with 4 GB recommended, and that is for a whole computer. Windows takes its share first: Microsoft lists 2 GB of memory as the minimum for Windows Server. So we size from the bottom up, Windows first, then each terminal, then headroom. The right-hand column is our guidance, not a benchmark.
| Plan | Resources | A sensible trading load |
|---|---|---|
| VPS Mini | 4 vCPU, 4 GB memory, 80 GB NVMe, 1 Gb/s | One or two MT4 or MT5 terminals with a modest number of charts, or a single cTrader. Windows uses about half the memory, so keep it lean. |
| VDS Small | 4 vCPU, 8 GB memory, 240 GB NVMe, 10 Gb/s | Several terminals for two or three brokers, MetaTrader and cTrader side by side, plus a trade copier. Where most traders should start. |
| VDS Medium | 8 vCPU, 16 GB memory, 480 GB NVMe, 10 Gb/s | Many terminals and EAs, or Strategy Tester optimisations running while live terminals keep trading. |
| VDS Large | 16 vCPU, 32 GB memory, 960 GB NVMe, 10 Gb/s | Long back-tests and heavy optimisation, or a desk running many accounts on one machine. |
A terminal with 40 charts and five EAs needs far more than one with two charts and one EA, so we give ranges, not a terminal count per gigabyte. After a week of trading, check memory in Task Manager and move up a plan from the client area if it sits near the top. vCPUs are shared with other servers on the host, so leave headroom.
MetaTrader has a hosting service built in: you rent a virtual terminal from inside MT4 or MT5 and migrate your EAs to it. For one account running a plain EA it is the simplest choice. Its rules set the limits: one rented terminal works with one trading account only, and an EA that calls a DLL is stopped. The migration help adds that the virtual platform has no user interface and that accounts with one-time password authentication can't use it.
Your own Windows VPS has none of those limits. Run as many terminals as the memory allows, mix MT4, MT5 and cTrader, use DLL-based EAs and trade copiers, and see the desktop whenever you connect. In exchange you keep Windows updated and secure. Our Windows RDP and MetaTrader setup guide covers the first login and keeping terminals running through disconnects and restarts.
The cTrader desktop app is a Windows program, and its requirements list Windows 7 or higher. It installs on Windows Server the same way MetaTrader does, but neither vendor names Windows Server as supported (MetaQuotes lists Windows 10 and 11), so it is common practice rather than a vendor promise. Test your setup on the first day.
If a strategy depends on sub-millisecond execution, such as high-frequency scalping, a VPS a few milliseconds from the broker won't deliver it. LMAX states internal exchange latency under 50 microseconds for its matching engine. At that scale you need co-location inside the broker's or venue's own data centre, a different and far more expensive product.
Every plan carries a 99% monthly uptime SLA, with a service credit below 99% and a full refund for the month below 95%. Our NOC monitors the infrastructure 24/7, and support answers Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00, fastest on Telegram. Compare everything on all VPS and VDS plans.
Only if something has to run while your own computer is off: an Expert Advisor, a copied signal, a trade copier or a trailing stop. MetaQuotes says EAs and signals need a constant connection to the trade server and uninterrupted power. If you trade by hand and close positions yourself, your PC or phone is enough. An RS Computers forex VPS is for traders whose terminal must stay online overnight and through the week.
It depends on charts, symbols and EAs per terminal, which is why MetaQuotes publishes no fixed number. As a starting point, VPS Mini with 4 GB suits one or two terminals, VDS Small with 8 GB several terminals across a few brokers, and VDS Medium with 16 GB many terminals plus Strategy Tester work. Windows Server itself needs at least 2 GB. Check memory in Task Manager after a week and upgrade from the client area if it runs near full.
It shortens the network path between your terminal and the broker, and it keeps the terminal online. It does not change how your EA decides or how quickly the broker fills orders, and it cannot make a strategy profitable. From our Amsterdam servers, we measured 6.7 ms from London and 6.6 ms from Frankfurt. Compare that with the ping your home PC shows in the bottom right corner of MetaTrader.
MetaQuotes hosting is simplest for one account with a plain EA. Its rules allow one trading account per rented terminal, stop EAs that call DLLs and give you no desktop. Your own Windows VPS runs several terminals for several brokers, cTrader, trade copiers and DLL-based EAs, and you can see and change everything over Remote Desktop. In exchange you keep Windows updated yourself.
The one with the lowest ping to your broker's trade server. Brokers in London or Frankfurt are about 7 ms from our Amsterdam servers, and Vienna is 18.6 ms from Prishtina, per our ping.pe tests on 6 October 2026. Install the terminal and read the ping in the connection indicator at the bottom right of MetaTrader. For a broker in New York, a US server will be closer than anything in Europe.
Yes. The cTrader desktop app is a Windows program, and Spotware lists Windows 7 or higher, a dual-core CPU and 2 GB of memory as the minimum, with 4 GB recommended. It installs on Windows Server 2019, 2022 or 2025 like MetaTrader, though Windows Server is not on the official list. Run it next to MT4 or MT5 on the same server; VDS Small leaves comfortable room for both.
The terminal closes with the Windows session, so EAs and trailing stops pause until it starts again. Stop Loss and Take Profit levels stay on the broker's server. Put the terminal in the Startup folder, plan Windows restarts for the weekend, and connect afterwards to check that AutoTrading is on. Our Windows RDP guide shows each step, and the console in the client area helps if RDP does not come back.
