WireGuard VPN server on your own VPS in Europe

A WireGuard VPN server from RS Computers is a KVM VPS in Prishtina, Amsterdam or Dublin that you rent and run yourself, with a dedicated IPv4 address plus IPv6 that nobody else uses, unmetered traffic and full root access. WireGuard is not preinstalled: our free guide sets it up on Debian 13, and the server is deployed automatically after payment, usually within minutes.

Every plan: NVMe storage, a dedicated IPv4 address plus IPv6, free weekly backups and full root access. Windows Server is available on VPS Mini and all VDS plans.

A dedicated IP only you use

Your VPN exits from an IPv4 address plus IPv6 assigned to your server alone, not from a pool shared with thousands of app users.

Kosovo, Netherlands or Ireland

Prishtina for a Kosovo IP while you are abroad, Amsterdam for a fast EU address, Dublin for Ireland. Same plans and prices in each.

Unmetered traffic, full root

Send everything through the tunnel without a data cap. Install WireGuard, OpenVPN or both, and add as many of your devices as you like.

Set up with our guide

WireGuard is not preinstalled. The Debian 13 guide walks you from a fresh server to a connected phone, and Telegram is there if you get stuck.

A WireGuard VPN server is a Linux machine on the internet that your phone, laptop or office connects to through an encrypted tunnel, so your traffic leaves from the server's IP address instead of from whatever network you happen to be on. RS Computers rents you that machine: a KVM VPS in Prishtina, Amsterdam or Dublin with a dedicated IPv4 address plus IPv6, unmetered traffic and full root access. You install WireGuard yourself with our free WireGuard setup guide for Debian 13, which takes a fresh server to a connected phone in one sitting.

Your own WireGuard VPN server: what RS Computers provides

Every plan, from VPS Nano to VDS Large, comes with the same base in all three cities:

What we do not sell is a managed VPN. WireGuard is not preinstalled and there is no VPN dashboard: you run the server, which is the reason to have your own. If a step in the guide does not work, ask on Telegram, Monday to Friday, 09:00 to 17:00.

Own VPN server or a VPN app: an honest comparison

A commercial VPN app gives you many countries for one subscription, behind addresses shared with other customers. A private VPN server gives you one address that only you use, under your control.

QuestionCommercial VPN appYour own WireGuard server
Who else uses the IP address?Other subscribers, often many at onceNobody. The dedicated IP serves your devices only
Who holds the keys and any logs? The VPN company, and you take its word for itYou decide what the server records
Do you blend into a crowd?Yes, your traffic mixes with other users'No. The server is rented in your name
LocationsMany countries, switched in the appThe city you chose; a second server for a second city
UpkeepNoneUpdates and keys are your job

To be plain about it: your own server is not an anonymity tool. Every site you visit sees the same single address, that address belongs to a server rented in your name, and you are the operator who answers for what passes through it. If you need to disappear among thousands of users, a server of your own is the wrong choice.

The dedicated IP is why many people choose this route. Addresses shared by many strangers can trigger CAPTCHAs, extra login checks or blocks. VPN companies sell a "dedicated IP VPN" add-on for exactly this reason; on a VPS the dedicated IP is simply part of the server.

WireGuard or OpenVPN?

Both run on any of our plans, and you can install both on the same server. WireGuard is the newer protocol and the one our guide uses. The project states its aim to be faster and simpler than IPsec and to perform considerably better than OpenVPN, and its whitepaper describes a Linux implementation of less than 4,000 lines of code, small enough to audit.

PointWireGuardOpenVPN
TransportUDP onlyUDP or TCP
Linux supportBuilt into the mainline kernel since Linux 5.6, released 29 March 2020Installed as a separate program
CryptographyOne fixed modern set: Curve25519, ChaCha20, Poly1305, BLAKE2TLS, with ciphers chosen in the configuration
Changing networksFull IP roaming: the tunnel survives a switch from Wi-Fi to mobile dataReconnects after the switch
Restricted networksNeeds an open UDP port; obfuscation is left to other toolsCan listen on TCP 443, which OpenVPN's documentation calls a fallback for restricted networks

The practical rule: start with WireGuard, and add OpenVPN on TCP 443 only if you often sit behind networks that block UDP. Expect it to be slower there: WireGuard refuses a TCP mode because TCP inside TCP performs badly, and OpenVPN itself prefers UDP.

WireGuard apps for every device

One server serves every device you own, each with its own key. The official clients are listed on the WireGuard install page:

Phones import their profile from a QR code and computers from a short text file. The guide shows both.

Prishtina, Amsterdam or Dublin: which city for your VPN

Choose by what you need the IP address for, then by distance: a VPN adds the round trip to the server to everything you do.

A VPS in Prishtina gives you a Kosovo IP address for online banking, government portals and office systems that expect a local connection while you are abroad. Data on that server falls under Kosovo's data-protection law, and our case for hosting in Kosovo explains the local peering behind it. A VPS in Amsterdam suits users in Germany, the Benelux, France and the UK who want a fast EU address. A VPS in Dublin is the natural pick for Ireland.

Probe cityTo our Amsterdam serverTo our Prishtina server

London6.7 ms40.2 ms
Paris9.3 ms40.5 ms
Vienna18.1 ms18.6 ms
Prishtina36.9 mssame city
Amsterdamsame city37.2 ms

We measured these round trips on 6 October 2026 with ping.pe, keeping the lowest of about 10 pings per probe city; your own ping depends on your ISP. Plans and prices are the same in all three cities.

Remote team access and site-to-site links

Small companies use a VPN server as the single front door to internal tools: the database, the admin panel and SSH accept connections only from VPN addresses, so the public internet has nothing to knock on. Each employee gets a separate key, and when someone leaves you delete one peer.

The same works between sites. A router or small Linux box in the office joins the VPS as a WireGuard peer, the server routes between the office network and remote staff, and a second office joins the same way. Because the VPS has a fixed public IP, offices with changing addresses can always find it. For apps that also need public HTTPS, see our reverse proxy and SSL guide; to practise firewalls first, try the 30-day Linux lab.

VPN use and our Acceptable Use Policy

Personal and business VPNs are welcome on the RS Computers network. Our Acceptable Use Policy does not allow Tor relays, exit nodes, open proxies or similar anonymising services, so keep the server for you, your family or your organisation, not the public. Everything that leaves your server's IP must be lawful. Outbound port 25 is blocked on new servers; mail apps that send through your mail provider on port 587 are not affected.

From order to first connection

  1. Choose a city and a plan in the cards above. VPS Nano is enough for a personal or family VPN.
  2. Select Debian 13 at the configure step.
  3. Pay. Deployment is automatic and usually done within minutes.
  4. Follow the WireGuard guide to install the server and add your first device.
  5. Search "what is my IP" on the device: it should show your server's address.

All six plans are compared on the VPS and VDS plans page.

FAQ

Questions before you order

Is it legal to run my own VPN server?

Running a VPN for your own or your company's traffic is legal in Kosovo, the Netherlands and Ireland, and personal and business VPNs are welcome on the RS Computers network. What you do through the tunnel must still be lawful and must follow our Acceptable Use Policy, which forbids Tor relays, open proxies and similar anonymising services. Some countries restrict VPN use, so check the local rules before you connect while travelling. This is general information, not legal advice.

Is my own VPN server safer than a VPN app?

Safer in one way, not in another. Nobody else holds your keys or decides what gets logged, and no other customers share your IP address. But the server is rented in your name, so it offers no shared-IP anonymity, and keeping it updated is your job. For encrypting hotel Wi-Fi and having a fixed dedicated IP, your own server fits well. For hiding who you are, it does not.

How many devices or users can connect to one WireGuard server?

WireGuard has no licence limit. Each device is a peer with its own key and tunnel address, and the address range in our setup guide leaves room for 253 devices. The real limit is bandwidth and CPU: a household's phones and laptops are light work for VPS Nano, while a team moving large files all day belongs on a bigger plan. Give every person and device its own key, so you can remove one without touching the rest.

Will my VPN work on hotel, airport or office networks?

Usually, but not everywhere. WireGuard runs only over UDP, and its developers say it does not support TCP and leaves obfuscation to other tools. Some networks block UDP. Moving WireGuard to UDP port 443, which HTTP/3 web traffic also uses (RFC 9114), often helps. Where UDP is blocked outright, OpenVPN on TCP 443 on the same server is the usual fallback, as OpenVPN's documentation describes. Respect each network's own rules.

Which plan do I need for a VPN server?

For one person or a household, VPS Nano is enough, because WireGuard needs very little. Choose VPS Micro or VPS Mini when the same server also hosts a website, backups or monitoring. Teams that push a lot of traffic through the tunnel should look at the VDS plans with a 10 Gb/s port. vCPUs are shared on every plan, and all plans include unmetered traffic, so you are never billed per gigabyte. The plan cards above show the exact specs.

Can I get a Kosovo IP address for my VPN?

Yes. Order the server in Prishtina and your VPN exits from a dedicated Kosovo IPv4 address plus IPv6, which helps with local banking, government services and office systems while you are abroad. Kosovo has no official ISO 3166 country code, so geolocation databases do not all label it the same way. If one particular service matters to you, ask us on Telegram before you order.

Will streaming services work through my own VPN?

We make no promises. Streaming services license content country by country, their terms often restrict VPN use, and many detect and block data-centre IP addresses, which includes servers like ours. A service may work today and block the address tomorrow. If streaming abroad is your main reason for a VPN, read that service's terms first. A VPS is a better fit for secure connections, a fixed IP and reaching your own systems.

Do you set up WireGuard for me?

No. RS Computers sells the server, not a managed VPN, so WireGuard is not preinstalled. Order with Debian 13 and follow our free WireGuard guide, which takes a fresh server to a connected phone and laptop. If something does not connect, message us on Telegram during support hours, Monday to Friday 09:00 to 17:00. Free weekly backups keep a working configuration safe.
